TOPIC: “Did That New Feature Actually Work? A Beginner’s Guide to Proving Cause and Effect with Data” by Felipe Santos-Marquez.

Say you launch a new feature and more people stick around afterward. Awesome, right? But here’s the catch: maybe those users were already the type who stick around, feature or not.

So how do you actually prove the feature was the reason, and not just a coincidence That’s what this talk is about. It’s an easy introduction to “causal inference,” which is basically a set of data science and AI adjacent techniques used to figure out real cause and effect from data, instead of just guessing or assuming.
